Historic Museum of Acapulco or San
Diego Fort: The old star shape fortress that was built
in 1616 by the Spaniards to defend themselves from the pirates who
prowled the Pacific, is currently an interesting museum in which
navigation and cartography instruments are exhibited, along with
reproductions of the vessels departing towards the east, and the
objects they brought back when Acapulco was the most important seaport
of the New Spain, amongst other valuable pieces that allow us to
know the different historic stages of this beautiful bay.

Dolores Olmedo Gallery: It was the old house of
Mrs. Dolores Olmedo, patron and friend of artists and intellectuals,
amongst them the renowned artist Diego Rivera, who was a guest of
the house in 1956, creating a mural, on an external wall and on
the ceiling of a terrace, of neat pre-Hispanic influence using mixed
techniques in which he utilized mosaics and stones of natural colours.
The figure of a feathered snake alluding the god Quetzalcoatl, along
with other images such as small toad, an animal which Rivera used
to identify himself with, stand out in the artwork.
