To fly, to be the master of the wind in order to control and understand it, to discover the world from another perspective, to watch the mountains and the valleys like a powerful bird soaring in the sky; these are some of the sensations generated by paragliding, a sport activity that is no stranger to the charms of Guadalajara, the capital of the State of Jalisco.
One of the best areas to take off is the summit of the Tequila Volcano, at 2940 metres above sea level, and at 62 kilometres of the city centre. The different platforms and winds present in the area, besides the fabulous surroundings, facilitate and justify the experience of flying. Just picture the chance of watching the wild settings of the Ravine of Rio Grande de Santiago from the air.
Other recommended areas are the scarped sierras of the towns of Chapala and Jocotepec, whose high altitude and good winds allow long lasting flights, with the additional reward of appreciating the magnificence of the Lake of Chapala.
