BARRANCAS DEL COBRE
USEFUL INFORMATION
Health
Will I be affected by the altitude?
Several towns of Barranca del Cobre are located over 200 metres above sea level, which can produce dizziness and headaches amongst those travellers little used to zones of high altitude.
In order to avoid an unpleasant moment, it is recommendable to limit your physical activity the moment you arrive in Barranca del Cobre. Besides, try to be frugal when eating in view that digestion is slower on higher grounds.
If you were to suffer the so-called "illness of heights", remain calm and try to rest; the discomfort is usually over after a few hours.
Is potable water reliable?
There is potable water at the hotels and inns of Barranca del Cobre; however, it is advisable to drink bottled or purified water only.
Avoid drinking water from springs and streams during your excursions for they may cause you stomach problems; try to purify it previously.
What precautionary measures should I take regarding food?
In spite of their tempting aromas, try not to consume the Mexican food that is for sell informally in the streets of Barranca del Cobre. Theses vending stands usually do not keep the necessary hygienic conditions; hence, they may cause you a stomach problem.
Likewise, do not exaggerate at mealtime; Mexican gastronomy is usually very seasoned and this fact could become a problem on your tour across the ravines.
