Everything is designed to satisfy the visitors' needs in a tourist paradise such as Cancun, and moving around is also a pleasant activity that does not imply major complications.

Unlike large cities, there are no traffic jams in Cancun, and the chance of suffering any inconvenience while touring the tourist attractions is minimal. You can take a taxi or the urban buses, both operating 24 hours a day, if you need to go through the town or the hotel zone.

Taxis are usually found in the vicinity of the hotels, although it is safe to stop and board them anywhere in the streets. These vehicles do not use taximeters but they have established fees; you may solicit a rate list at the reception desk of your hotel. Either way, it is never an excess to ask or to agree on the cost of the service before hopping into the vehicle.

The local buses are a more economic way of travelling in Cancun. These units have their bus stops established between the town centre and the hotel zone. The cost of the ticket is of 4.50 Mexican pesos (approximately 50 cents of a dollar) per person in the town, and of 6.50 Mexican pesos in the hotel zone.

-Interurban Transportation: buses setting off towards different tourist destinations of the Mexican Caribbean, such as Playa del Carmen, Xel-Ha and Tulúm, besides other important attractions such as Valladolid and Mérida, in the neighbouring State of Yucatan, can be boarded at the Bus Terminal of Cancun, located on the crossing of Uxmal and Tulúm Avenues. Rates are pretty economic.

-Maritime Transportation: diverse vessels setting to sea bound for the islands nearby Cancun, such as Cozumel and Mujeres, and the renowned coral reef of Palancar, an awesome forest of corals and mangroves, can be boarded in here. It is also possible to go on short three-hour rides.
The offers are multiple and they even include a 10-day journey up to Cuba. These tourist ships usually include the meals and an opened bar in the cost of the ticket. The most recommendable thing to do is to study the different alternatives, preferably after consulting a travel agent.

-Airborne Transportation: light aircrafts offering taxi service flying to Cozumel, Playa del Carmen and Chichén Itzá, can be chartered at the airport of Cancun. It is advisable to book a reservation with anticipation for there are a number of visitors who choose using this means of transportation.
