Chihuahua, the capital of the homonymous state, is located at 1450 kilometres from the City of Mexico and at 373 kilometres from the City of Juarez. The access to this northern city is pretty easy; therefore, travellers will have no major inconveniences in order to access this simply charming land.

Be it by air, land or train (the last one allows you to enjoy the spectacular landscapes of the Barranca del Cobre), you will like your trip to the capital of Chihuahua, which can be accessed by land from the United States as well, in view that its closeness to the borderline and the excellent conditions of the road, motivates the ever more frequent visit of groups of tourists coming from that country.

Take into consideration the following before travelling to Chihuahua:

• By air: the General Roberto Fierro de Villalobos International Airport, in the nearby Municipality of Aldama (at 18 kilometres from the centre of Chihuahua) gets flights coming from México DF (one hour), Monterrey (50 minutes) and Veracruz (one hour), amongst other destinations inside the country. Airplanes coming from cities in the United States, such as Phoenix, Tucson, El Paso, Houston and Dallas land in here as well.
  The air terminal provides a series of services, such as restaurants, bar and duty free shops; it is possible to get to the city at any time of the day from here.

• By land: Chihuahua is connected with the rest of the country through modern highways. If you happen to be in the south of Mexico (México DF or Guadalajara, just to cite a couple of cities), follow highway 45, a paved road in optimum conditions; the trip by bus takes 20 and 18 hours respectively.
  The access from the north is realised through a four-lane highway in optimal conditions; the road allows reaching the City of Juarez (Chihuahua) from the States of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California (United States).
  From the City of Juarez you have to take Highway 45 southbound in order to arrive in the state capital; the trip lasts 4 hours approximately. If the starting point is the City of Hermosillo (State of Sonora), you can choose Highway 16, known as Great Vision because it offers excellent panoramas of the Sierra of Tarahumara; or Highway 10 that runs across Agua Prieta, the City of Nuevo Casas Grande (State of Chihuahua), and the Town of Ricardo Flores Magon, to lastly take Cuota Highway that will lead you up to Highway 45.
  You can also come from the State of Durango travelling previously to the City of Hidalgo del Parral; where you need to take Highway 24 up to Highway 16, a road leading directly to Chihuahua.
  
  
• By train: the railroad leading to the City of Chihuahua is one of the most spectacular works of engineering in the world, since it crosses the astonishing geography of the Western Sierra Madre, running through 73 tunnels and 28 superb bridges along its fantastic route.
  The Chihuahua - Pacific line starts and ends at Los Mochis (State of Sinaloa), with train stations in the Towns of Cuauhtémoc, Creel, Divisadero, Posada Barrancas, Bahuichivo, Cerocahui and El Fuerte.
  The train offers two types of services: First Class Express and Economic Class, both with air conditioner, heater, reclining seats and ample and ecological restrooms. The former has a bar and a dining car, whilst the latter offers its passengers the service of vending sweets, snacks and coffee, amongst other products; the train sets off on a daily basis.
  Although the trip by train is long and tiring, it is a unique experience, especially since the wild and splendid landscapes of the Barranca del Cobre unveil along the way.
