Exploring Mexico's largest Island from side to side is a trip travellers should not fail to experience. It is an adventure that can be realised in different ways, either by using public means of transportation, such as taxis or buses, or by stirring your own wheel or that of a rented car, for which you need a credit card and a driver license.

Remember that most of the streets are east and westbound while driving by the centre of Cozumel, although north and southbound streets have the right of pass. Be careful and drive unhurried for there is a stop sign in almost every corner.

Likewise, you should know that the highway system does not cover the northern zone of the Island, where the best beaches and settings are to be found, therefore you need to take the coastal road bordering the Island in order to reach these places.
