- Playa El Palmar Beach, with its fine-grained sands and
mild currents is the essence of
Ixtapa; a place
where the splendour of the sea and the hot shores combine well with
the spectacular display of its tourist complexes. All along its
almost two kilometres of extension are located its most important
hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and entertainment centres.
Apart from the beauty of its landscapes and an excellent tourist infrastructure, on the waters of El Palmar one can practise windsurfing, surfing, jet skiing and sports fishing.
- Playa Quieta Beach is a tropical paradise of sleepy waters. It has an extension of 300 metres of sheer fun. The bathers and swimmers enjoy this place as well as the sportsmen seeking for good sites to practice kayaking, windsurfing and other water sports. This is a departure point to the ships that embark towards the Island of Ixtapa on a ten minute long trip.
- Las Cuatas are two superb twin beaches secluded by a promontory.
Because of their position facing the open sea, their waters are
a little wavy, so some precautions while entering them are recommended.
They are positioned right in front of the second lodging area of
Ixtapa. Access is restricted.
- Playa Don Juan Beach, its strong surge, its rocky outcroppings and wild vegetation make for a beautiful and unconquerable appearance. This is a solitary beach of tough access, but well worth visiting. It is located next to the Ixtapa Lake, in the northern zone of the City.
- Playa Don Rodrigo Beach is the perfect place for those in search of tranquillity and a close contact with nature. Amazing formations of rocks, profuse vegetation and strong waves are the main characters of this beach, fully recommended for those seeking to escape the noisy modern world or to enjoy a fascinating experience below the water, for it stands out for the practice of snorkelling and scuba diving.
- Playa Linda Beach, a small marsh inhabited by crocodiles, birds and mammals give a special touch to this paradise of peacefulness and splendid scenery. It presents excellent waves to practice surfing, while on its shores it is possible to go horseback riding.
It is located at the North of the City from whose docks depart the
ships that sail towards the island of
Ixtapa. This
stands out as the only one among the nearby beaches where camping
is permitted.
- Playa Vista Hermosa Beach, with its tropical framework, an open shored beach with a very strong surge, thus making it necessary to be careful while bathing in its waters. This is a public beach, even though the access is through the Hotel Las Brisas.
- Ciclo-Pista Parque Ecologico Aztlan Ecological Park and Biking Path, makes for an interesting circuit with more than eight kilometres along the Ixtapa Marina, the Parque Ecologico Aztlan, the viewing point of the Laguna del Negro Lake and the marshes of Playa Linda Beach. Along the tour it will be possible to watch birds, crocodiles, iguanas, turtles, not to mention the tall trees of more than 35 metres height. This makes an excellent route for bikers, skaters and strollers.
- Delfiniti Ixtapa. This visit will turn out to be a unique and unforgettable experience that will allow the traveller to have a close sight of trained bottlenose dolphins. More than fun alone, this sea aquarium is engaged in creating a conscience among the visitors about the dangers that this specie - one with the highest I.Q. in the animal kingdom - is facing. It is recommended to make reservations with some anticipation.
