• By air: the capital of the State of Nuevo Leon has two international airports: Del Norte (for private flights) and Mariano Escobedo (for commercial flights); the latter is one of the safest and busiest in Mexico, and it is located 24 kilometres northwest of the city; it can be accessed through Highway 54. Flights coming from the main cities in Mexico arrive at the Escobedo Airport, such as:

*Aguascalientes (Aguascalientes): 1 hour and 25 minutes

*Cancun (Quintana Roo) 2 hours

*Chihuahua and Juarez City (Chihuahua): 1 hour and 15 minutes, and 2 hours and 30 minutes, respectively

*Culiacán (Sinaloa): 1 hour and 30 minutes

*Durango (Durango): 2 hours

*Guadalajara (Jalisco): 1 hour and 20 minutes

*Hermosillo (Sonora): 2 hours and 10 minutes

*Leon (Guanajuato): 1 hour and 30 minutes

*City of Mexico: 1 hour and 15 minutes

*Puebla (Puebla): 1 hour and 20 minutes

*Tampico (Tamaulipas): 1 hour and 10 minutes

*Tijuana (Northern Baja California): 3 hours and 10 minutes

*Torreón (Coahuila): 1 hour

*Veracruz (Veracruz): 2 hours and 40 minutes

You can also fly from the United States, and flights coming from Chicago (3 hours), Dallas (1 hour and 30 minutes) Houston (1 hour and 20 minutes), Los Angeles (5 hours), Las Vegas (1 hour and 45 minutes), McAllen (40 minutes) and San Antonio (1 hour and10 minutes), arrive in Monterrey. Travellers will have to take a 30 or 40-minute ride (depending on the traffic) from the Escobedo Airport to Monterrey, and taxis charge around 200 pesos for the trip.


• By land: Monterrey is located at 957 kilometres from the City of Mexico and 300 kilometres south of the border with the United States. The capital of Nuevo Leon is connected with the rest of the country through Federal Highways 40, 45 and 57. If you happen to be in the City of Mexico and are planning on driving up to Monterrey, take Highway 57; if you are west of the capital of Nuevo Leon, follow Highway 40.
  In the City of Mexico the buses bound for Monterrey set out at the North Terminal, located on 4907 Cien Metros Avenue, on the crossing of Colon with Amado Nervo.
  We recommend you to act as if you all ready know the city when you arrive; in case somebody approaches you offering to help with your luggage, check that they are identified as personnel working at the terminal. Do not show all your money and do not neglect your suitcases either.
