NUEVO VALLARTA

ATTRACTIONS

The sun, the sea and the sand. Fun, relax and adventure. Comfort, peacefulness and luxury. These are only some of the details that turn Nuevo Vallarta, in the Bay of Banderas, into an unavoidable destination in the Mexican area of the Pacific Ocean.

Along its five kilometres of beaches, Nuevo Vallarta, in the State of Nayarit, offers the traveller an assorted palette of possibilities, an endless range of options, either for the adventure lovers or for the peace seekers. Options that range from a peaceful rest on the golden sands of a beach to a close encounter with the bottlenose dolphins at the sea.

The restless agenda for these vacations also includes some intense fishing excursions within open seas, amazing diving excursions among crystal clear waters, unexpected appearances of whales, visits to the Marietas Islands, which are thickly populated by many species of sea birds, and the 'releasing' of hundreds of tiny newborn Gulf Turtles into the Bay of Banderas.

In Nuevo Vallarta (neighbour to the most famous Puerto Vallarta), you must not miss the chance of visiting the following places:

-Marina Nuevo Vallarta, modern and luxurious, this state-of-the-art marina has a capacity for 270 ships. Every year during March takes place the International Regatta Bahía de Banderas, organised by the Delegation for Tourism of the State of Nayarit. Which ultimately become four days of fun and celebration.

  • BEACHES IN NUEVO VALLARTA

-Sayulita, This beach is ideal for rookie surfers, it is ideal for those guys that are just beginning to understand the strength of the waves. In the beach exists a very comfortable camping site that will allow the traveller to have a long lasting contact with the Pacific Ocean. It is located sideways to the Roadway 200.

-El Anclote, its clear and warm waters are inviting and rejoicing, while its finely grid and welcoming sands are perfect to rest or to stretch upon. These are only some of the relaxing options to perform on a beach that is also prodigal with wildlife, due to the constant presence of dozens of coastal birds and the sporadic visit of turtles and giant rays.

Within the area of El Anclote, the visitor will find a well assorted number of restaurants, in which it will be an easy task to indulge yourself with the well served dishes based on fish and seafood. The prices are accessible to all budgets and will vary according to the elected restaurant. This beach is located at 22 kilometres from Bucerías, along the Roadway 200.

-Punta de Burro, is a small beach framed by rock outcroppings, but showing huge and thunderous waves that allow the practicing of surfing all around the year. The delightful Marietas Islands can be clearly seen from here. It is sited between Huanacaxtle and Punta Mita and to access this place the traveller will have to go through the Roadway 200.

-Destiladeras, is a large beach of finely grained white sands, wherein the wind is only felt as a muted whisper. Aficionados and experts will be happy to surf on its waves, with the confidence of always being able to reach the intensity and the adrenaline doses they seek within the surfing of the waves. Windsurf and snorkel diving are some of the other sports that can be practised in its waters.

It is located between Punta de Burro and the Cruz de Huanacaxtle, along the road that goes to Punta Mita. The beach also offers other facilities as parking lots and several restaurants.

-La Manzanilla, wherein its steady waters the visitor can practise some exiting swimming within an absolute safety, features that had vowed for making it one of the most visited beaches of Nuevo Vallarta.

Close by to the beach, there is a small fishermen town where you will be able to hire a motorboat to go by an area of the Pacific Ocean where are abundant numbers of tuna fish and dorados among many other fish species.

It is located besides the Cruz de Huanacaxtle, at a 15 minute distance from Nuevo Vallarta. The access route goes through roadway 200, leaving this road at the detour to Manzanilla just prior to arriving to Punta Mita,.

-Emiliano Zapata, a solitary and silent beach, perfect for camping and for escaping from the rush of the modern world. Here, the tourist will be able to fully enjoy the sea without any kind of commotions, let aside the comings and goings from the usual dozens of bathers.

To visit it you will have to drive by the Roadway 200 and, just before reaching Punta Mita, you will have to change direction into the cobbled detour that dies at the shores of this beach.

-Higuera Blanca, is a lonely beach only visited by those who practise kite-surfing or fly-surfing, an exciting activity that combines nautical and aerial sports, in which the hands of the surfer have to be tightly clasped to a cord that manoeuvres a wind driven kite (like a small para-glider), while its feet are fixed upon a small board with which he can perform some extreme figures on the top of the waves. To arrive to this place, you will have to go by the Roadway 200 and then take the detour to Cruz de Huanacaxtle. Thereafter, within a 15 minute drive, a sign post announces the proximity of Higuera Blanca. For looking at the sea you will have to twist to your right side.
