Diverse, succulent, of a thousand tastes, that is the gastronomy of Nuevo Vallarta. A destination blessed by a vigorous sea that provides it with exquisite fishes and seafood, the same that become delicious temptations in the kitchens of the State of Nayarit.
The aromas and flavours of the sea rejoice the palates with excellent dishes, such as the zarandeado fish, pieces of fish smoked with the aromatic wood of the mangrove, and the succulent oyster soup, ideal to regain strength after the excursions. You cannot fail to try the oyster enchiladas, a tasty regional whim, neither.
Other items jutting out in the provocative menu of Nuevo Vallarta are the shrimps, which are used to prepare balls of meat, tamales, empanadas and the tasty shrimps a la tecueleña, based on cheese and cooked in the oven; they also prepare a thick stew seasoned with diverse spices called tlatishuile.
But not everything is fish and seafood at the restaurants of this tourist destination. The cuisine of Nayarit takes pride on its cheese and elote (cob of maize) pies, its clear soup of quarantine, prepared with pieces of chicken, saffron and cumin. If your palate is looking for the seduction of sweets, try the soporrondongo, small cakes of elote and cinnamon.
Do not worry if you do not feel like adventuring through the winding roads of the cuisine of Nuevo Vallarta, for you will find excellent restaurants with cosmopolitan menus in this beach corner of the Bay of Banderas. All there is left for us to do is to wish you bon appetite.
