Na-Bolom Museum: in this "House of the Jaguar" (its Mayan name translated to English) travellers will find an interesting ethnographic room with elements and still photos of the different indigenous groups of Chiapas, emphasised on the Lacandon people; they will also see a room containing the objects found at the archaeological site of Moxviquil, and a room with excellent textiles produced in the region.
Besides its permanent exhibitions, Na-Bolom has two rooms for temporary shows of fine arts, photography and craftsmanship.
It was founded in 1950 by husband and wife Frans Bloom and Gertrude Duby, intellectuals and lovers of the culture and peoples of Chiapas; its seat is an old neoclassical house raised in the late XIX century. One of the singularities of the House of the Jaguar is that it has lodging rooms for investigators, besides a very ample library with 10000 titles related to Chiapas. Museum of Los Altos: it is a refuge of the past that allows knowing and remembering the most transcendent events in the history of San Cristóbal de las Casas, and its most outstanding objects are the petals of the pomegranate on the monstrance of the Cathedral, one of the top works of jewellery in Chiapas.
There is an attractive handicrafts' shop within the museum, called Sna Jolobil, a Tzotzil word that translated into English means "House of the Weaving", which exhibits and sells magnificent textiles with Mayan motifs.
The museum is located inside the Cultural Centre of Los Altos, in the former Convent of Santo Domingo.

Museum of Amber: it is a singular precinct where a collection of 350 pieces of amber, the fossil resin of the Mesozoic trees, coming from the mines of Chiapas, are on exhibition.
It is located in the former Convent of La Merced and was inaugurated in December of the year 2000; it is the only one of its kind in America and one of the few existing in the world.
