You would also have to keep in mind that in certain establishments an official identification could be asked for (passport, drivers license or other) in which your photograph, name and signature appears, as a safety measure and to prevent any deceit from the customer.

In Mexico, credit card vouchers are valued in pesos, as stipulated by a legal disposition. But within your banking account, this number will be in dollars or in your homeland present currency.

Visa, Diners Club, Master Card and American Express are the most accepted credit cards in Mexico.

On the other hand, the principal banks have 24 hour operating automatic cashiers where you would be able to withdraw money using your international cards without further inconvenience. Nevertheless, in faraway locations banking transactions can take a little longer, specially when using your plastic cards.

Traveller checks are accepted without any inconveniences in hotels, restaurants and other commercial establishments in all of the principal cities and tourist destinations in Mexico, becoming an excellent option for travelling by the lands of the Aztec.

In Mexico these checks can be purchased and delivered in most of the banking agencies. Some hotels will exchange them for cash money or would even accept that passengers pay their bills with them. Ask in the reception to know if this transaction is possible.

The amount these checks are worth is set by the daily exchange rate. To acquire and trade them will require in some cases to show your passport or any other personal ID and to put your signature on the document.
