Stores and businesses have different working hours, though places are open from 9:00 or 10:00 hours to 19:00 or 20:00 hours in large cities, while in towns and small cities they close at 14:00 hours to reopen at 16:00 hours.

Some establishments, usually in peaceful destinations with provincial airs, do not open their doors on Saturday afternoons and on Sundays; hence it is recommendable to take all the necessary precautions when travelling to such places.

On the other hand, public offices and state institutions usually work Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 hours to 14:00 hours, and from 16:00 hours to 18:00 hours. There is no attention on Saturdays and Sundays.

Banks

Most of the financial institutions open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 or 9:00 hours to 16:00 hours. Some banks in Mexico City and other state capitals keep their doors open until 19:00 hours and work on Saturdays till noon.
